Vocal Powerhouse Datrian Johnson

Datrian’s natural talent and powerful spirit will stop you in your tracks. He was singing in church from his earliest days and by the time he was 12, Datrian found himself featured on BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel. He tasted the limelight singing at larger events like 400 Uhuru Rising - A Musical Journey To Freedom and a premier for Aretha Franklin’s Amazing Grace film. Today Datrian continues to grow as a songwriter and performer working with Asheville’s Free Radio and The Fritz as well as with John Medeski’s musical collective Saint Disruption.

The Fritz is a soul-driven psychedelic funk band. The group’s aggressive approach to funk, soul, and rock creates a sound that is uniquely their own. Their high-energy, danceable songs provide a platform for each member to shine. With powerful vocals, climactic solos, and tight grooves, The Fritz has built a devoted following and is captivating audiences everywhere. The newest lineup features Datrian on lead vocals, propelling the group to new heights.  

 Inspired by a long-standing friendship that started deep in the Amazon rainforest over a decade ago,  Jeff Firewalker  and John Medeski (Medeski Martin & Wood) have formed a musical collaborative that brings together musicians,  video artists and visionaries to create great music that explores the human condition. Datrian is featured throughout the album and gives a devastating performance on the band's lead single, Choke a Man. Datrian and Firewalker have cultivated a songwriting partnership with new releases on the way.
